Details Of Airborne GOBLIN 29er Mountain Bike (Cross Country/XC), Coolaid Green 21""
We like 29ers for all the same reasons everyone else does. Larger wheels roll over obstacles more easily, longer tire contact patch improves cornering and straight-line traction and makes 29ers less prone to sinking in soft dirt, sand or mud. And while the 29" format offers a more "natural" frame geometry for taller riders, the current wave of designs works well for smaller folk too. Lynette, one of our test riders and former MTB Worlds bronze medalist, is 5'4" and loves her 16" Goblin. Bottom line, the Goblin is built to compete head-to-head with a couple of bikes we really respect: Trek's base X-Caliber, and the Specialized RockHopper Pro 29er series. The Goblin's geometry is nimble enough to pick singletrack lines, but plenty stable for hi-speed descents. And although the larger wheels let you roll over stuff you'd avoid on a 26er, the front end is very precise, even while climbing. Hydroformed and hand-welded 6061 alloy frame with a full SRAM X7 2x10 drivetrain. Frankly, we were skeptical about the new 2x10 systems until we rode the early Goblin prototypes, but the X7 2x10 is easy to dial in, shifts like a dream, and has all the gears you need with less hunting and grinding than a 3-ring setup. The SRAM guys really knocked this one out of the park! (Note: the shipping weight isn't really 50 pounds. It's just used to calculate freight).Feature
- Hydroformed and hand-welded 6061 Alloy frame
- RockShox Reba RL suspension fork with lockout
- Complete SRAM X7 drivetrain (not just a derailleur)
- Avid Elixir R hydraulic disc brakes
- Outstanding value: spec and quality compares favorably with other brands at $1600 and up.
