With car seats, correct installation is a critical component of providing your infant with a safe ride. The Chicco KeyFit 30 System features a spring-assisted level foot, bubble levels and center-pull LATCH adjustment make safe and secure installation quick and easy.
The system is designed with energy-absorbing foam that provides impact protection, while a thickly cushioned seat pad and five-point harness ensure that your infant is comfortably secured. This system includes a removable newborn insert to ensure a proper fit for smaller babies, and it is rated safe for children up to 30 pounds. Removable seat padding and a removable head support let you further customize the fit for your child.
Chicco has been committed to providing simple and safe products for children all over the world since 1958. By providing products specific to each phase of growth and development, Chicco is committed to helping children grow up in the best possible way.
The carseat does not snap into a grocery cart like the Graco carseat I last had. This makes shopping at the grocery store horribly inconvenient, there is no room in the shopping cart after the carseat is put into the storage area of the cart. This one inconvenience alone would make me never recommend this carseat to anyone.
Also, there is almost no adaptability to the various strollers. I am very limited to the strollers I can purchase due to the fact that it doesn't fit with most adapters.
The sun shade is almost useless, it covers a few of the baby's hairs on the back of her head, but thats it. The sun is beaming in her face when the shade is fully drawn.
I had a Graco before this and it was far superior in every area. I was convinced to get a Chicco because of all the reviews and feel like I got ripped off after being convinced to buy this. After 2 weeks of use, I am selling it online and will buy anything but this.
To sum up, this is an awful, incompatible, POS that I would recommend people steer clear of. There was not one issue I had with the Graco, and with this, it seems like every aspect of the carseat has some major issue.

The Keyfit 30 is really a well made and sturdy infant seat. The materials are very easy to clean and the fabric looks very nice, the infant seat itself is very secure and I feel like my baby is very safe when he's in his seat. The base is SO convienent if you drive your baby in the same car all the time.
One of the Keyfit's listed reasons to buy this seat is that it can hold your baby up to 30 lbs. Well let me tell you what it does NOT really advertise to you. It can only hold a baby up to 29" tall, and my son is almost 20lbs and 28.5 inches at 6 months! OR until the baby's head is within 1" from the top of the seat, so if your baby has a very long torso this could be sooner than you think. Also, the seat weighs a TON and there is NO WAY I would ever lug this thing around if my son was 30lbs! I can't even imagine that. The bottom line is that you are most likely NOT going to use this seat until your baby is 30lbs, so if that's your main reason for going with this seat then you should consider other options as well.
My son hates this seat, and always cries when I put him in but calms down as soon as he's in the car. The material makes him very hot and sweaty, though I'm sure most infant seats will be that way. The straps are incredibly easy to adjust the shoulder height, as well as tightly secure my son into the seat. Yes, the seat is too big to fit into the top of shopping carts (I would never "balance" him up there anyway, but I know some people prefer this).

To break it down-
Reasons to Buy the Keyfit 30:
-very sturdy with high crash and safety test ratings
-very stylish and nice looking material, also very easy to clean
-easy to adjust straps when taking baby in/out as well as adjust shoulder height
-has a sunshade that flips out from under the canopy for additional coverage
-super easy to click in & out of base/stroller/keyfit caddy
Reasons NOT to Buy the Keyfit 30:
-if you are buying because of the "up to 30lbs" reason, think again (see above)
-baby gets very very hot (not sure how that compares to other seats though)
-seat is VERY heavy - this was especially hard for me after my c-section because I couldn't lift the seat at ALL (again not sure how that compares)
-handle is NOT ergonomic - combined with seat weight, I've actually developed calluses on the palm of my hand from this seat handle!
-does not fit at all on the top of shopping carts (just fyi though, super unsafe for baby anyway, but if that's your preference this seat will not fit)
Like all the other parents, I did my research and found this car seat to be top rated. I am very happy with my purchase and feel safe placing my child in the car seat, receiving reassurance from the police officer who taught me how to properly install it that I had made a wise decision. My purchase included the travel system (with stoller). I would recommend getting the stroller frame/caddy instead. It is much smaller and lighter, and takes up less space. I did purchase a Bokoo cover (after market product) to keep the actual fabric of the Chicco seat clean should this be passed down to another child.

Cons: It does not have "cut outs" at the bottom of the seat to place in a shopping cart. The only safe way to place this in a shopping cart is in the large basket portion, which is not that handy if you plan on purchasing any large item, or a large quantity of items. Additionally, the sun shade does not provide very much protection. I just cover with a light blanket.
I have, and will continue to recommend to new parents.
