Safe, Clean and Reliable Power--Right Where You Need It
Sunforce Pro Series Pure Sine Wave Inverters stay safe, quiet and cool while providing clean, stable power. They convert the energy stored in 12-Volt batteries or other DC power sources into the AC electrical power that many home appliances and tools need. Pure Sine Wave Inverters provide clean power with very low harmonic distortion, and no static or humming noise. This allows for a clearer picture on televisions and monitors, and less static or noise in audio systems. Motors and pumps run more efficiently, quietly and will produce less heat. Pure sine wave inverters are also ideal for computers, laptops, printers, faxes, HDTVs and electronic game systems.
Weighing only 11 pounds, this unit is compact, portable and can be easily installed right where you need it. It is equipped with two 110-Volt household electrical outlets, and provides 1000-Watts of continuous power with 2000 Watts of surge power capability. The Sunforce 1000-Watt Pro Series Pure Sine Wave Inverter is so advanced that it is patented, and includes numerous safety features to keep you and your gear safe. It comes equipped with an audible overload alarm with LED light, a high-speed cooling fan, and a soft-start system. The unit will automatically shut down in the event of short-circuits, low battery power, DC input voltage overload, output overload, or excessive temperature. It even comes with a remote control modular connector cable and key-chain remote for your convenience.

Key Component of Solar Power Systems
A power inverter changes the DC power stored in 12-Volt batteries into AC power, which is the same kind of power used in your home. The inverter is attached to one or several batteries, which serve as your power source. The devices that you want to run are then plugged into the outlets on the front of the inverter. An extension cord can be used for devices that are located farther away. Once set up, simply turn on the inverter and then turn on each device.
The attached batteries will discharge as the inverter draws power from them, and will need to be periodically recharged. Solar power is one of the most convenient and cleanest ways to recharge 12-Volt batteries. With a solar power setup, you can generate free power anywhere the sun shines--even in remote locations. Once connected to solar panels and a charge controller, your batteries will be automatically recharged by sunlight and will provide the inverter with clean, renewable power for your equipment.
Better Technology Keeps Your Components Safe
Some power inverters use a modified sine wave instead of a pure sine wave. This modified power wave is not exactly the same as electricity from the power grid, and appears as a choppy squared-off wave when viewed through an oscilloscope. The voltage fluctuates with this type of inverter and may cause difficulties running sensitive electronic equipment. You may notice that digital clocks lose time, the picture appears wavy on screens, and motors run roughly; these are indications that you require a pure sine wave inverter.

One bonus of these over RoadPro is that the brand has "Sun" in the name instead of "Road". This should be a stupid distinction, but not so. If you're unlucky enough to be using an Amazon Visa Card - as I used to - they will cover an inverter with "Sun" in the name under their extended warranty, and entirely stiff you if "Road" is in the brand name, under the theory that one is a car product and one is a solar product. Despite the fact that both are bought for both reasons by the same people. So a big negative-5 stars for Amazon Visa, don't trust 'em. That's honestly one reason I looked at this product, though I stopped buying anything with Amazon Visa on general principles and you should too.
Many people have commented on the BIG drawback of this unit - the attachment points for the heavy-amp battery cables are hand-tighten plastic screws. I consider this flat-out unsafe, because if you've got a 4 gauge or larger wire pinched with plastic screws, it's very easy for one of your cables to come loose and hit the opposite one just an inch away, creating a spontaneous arc welder with no "off" switch, and burning down your car/house/face/fingers etc. So of course I put a fuse in line to prevent that, but still I considered it unsafe. My solution was simply to crimp battery lugs onto the end of my 12v cables, the kind with a 5/16" hole. Once securely crimped on, these may be safely applied, and frankly if you get this you SHOULD get a set of these lugs off amazon or ebay or your local car parts store, and make sure the person crimping them knows how to do it right.

I have it running about a 160 to 360 watt load... running a freezer and my computer monitor and the fans that keep me cool. It works well, but occasionally for no known reason it shuts down and whines, and I have to go down and power it off and on again, which resets and it works again. This may be due to the old freezer pulling too many amps when it tries to start the first thing in the morning... I have it on a timer so it doesn't run at night. So I doubt that this inverter really handles 1500w of surge power.
Otherwise, I'll join with others in noting that it's ridiculous that this thing sits on little feet and has no mounting hardware - that's a safety issue too, I think.... and it compounds the danger with the plastic 12v attachment screws, because the unit can get shoved around and this could cause the power cables to short. Also the plastic case is attractive but aluminum would have made a lot more sense as a heat sink.Ideal 45-332, Benchmade Knives , Sunforce 45455, Klein Tools 57060, Bon 21-212 , Brian Yellowhorse Knives, Down Under Knives , Benchmade Pardue Design, 15 ton Hydraulic Metal, Surefire Kroma Milspec, Brian Yellowhorse Knives, Roberts Model 10-254 , Brian Yellowhorse Knives , JH Williams 50607, Greenlee K05-1GL , Fallkniven S1 , KNIPEX 71 72 , Sea Doo-SD15001-RS1, PowerTac M30, Klein Tools 57035 , Armstrong 69-552 , Mitutoyo Vernier Caliper, Greenlee 1810 , Armstrong 69-554 , D.H.Russell Folding Lockback, Katz Knives K800DP, PRESIDIUM DUO TESTER , Starrett Dial Caliper, Olight SR92, JH Williams WS-476, PB Swiss PB 8515 , Magnalight HID Flashlight, Bessey BTB30, Greenlee 521A , Greenlee 7215E , Teledyne Thermal Wire, 320W Super Heavy Duty, Extech SD500, Milwaukee 2490-24, Paladin 4933, Eagle Honey Jigged Bone, Olight SR95, Ideal 33-771, IDEAL 44-971 , Mountain MTN16600 , Gold Series Bowie, Foredom 5400 TX, CDI Torque 1002TAA-CDI, Petzl E52 AC
