Switch from Wet to Dry Operation Without Stopping
Unlike other HEPA vacuums, the Dustless HEPA Wet/Dry Vacuum can be used to vacuum up water without fear of getting your valuable HEPA filter wet. A baffle wall inside the canister keeps water from reaching the HEPA filter, under normal operation. Go back and forth between wet and dry operation without stopping to change filters or make other adjustments.

DUSTLESS: This vacuum uses sub-micron filter bags. Because of this if you suck up sharp objects like nails with the vacuum you can puncture the bag on occasion. If you do so, you will see some dust. If you clean the vacuum out and try again with a new bag you will not see dust. If you see dust check for a hole in the bag. No vacuum is dustless but this one goes a long long ways towards that goal down to the sub-micron level. I like the vacuum and use it lot.

STRENGTHS: It is worth watching the videos so you can understand the strengths of the vacuum. This unit can suck up things like concrete dust then water with no problem. Very little dust gets out if any when you empty the drum and that alone is a big help. If the vac tips over in use the HEPA filter is very unlikely to get wet. There is a HEPA filter, filter cover and filter bag all of which are sub micron. The suction is strong considering the level of filtration. The vac holds a lot and the bags are reasonably priced for what the do. These are not simple paper bags of old and they are near the size of coffee sack (large). The hose is high quality and the attachments work well. If you really compare all the strengths this vac can not be beat - at least we could not find one that was better.

FITTINGS: Some of the fittings can fall off but if you have used this kind of stuff you know that some fitting on vacuums can also get stuck on and for me personally I rather they fall off occasionally. They are friction fittings so they are as tight as you cram them on, so you can make them tighter if you want to.

This unit is great for abatement or many other uses. You really do not need to be breathing dust and lead and asbestos are only the tip of the iceberg so to speak. Those are just some of the very very few toxins they have budget to regulate.

Some classics that you might be exposed to that you really should not breathe:
Insulation (much like asbestos)
Drywall
Aluminum oxide from sand paper
Titanium from paint (whitener)
Wood dust (well known to harm the lungs)
Plastic (if you cut, router or sand plastic)
Ever wonder what grinding disks, saw blades and the stuff they coat drill bits is made of? Not likely you should breath it as those slowly wear down.
Mold
Glues and adhesives (like if you remove flooring and such)
The list goes on so why not protect yourself to the sub-micron level?

TO BUYERS:
Get an attachment that is fuzzy on the end (dusting) if you can.

TO THE MANUFACTURER:
The exhaust should be able to be ported out a hose if needed - needs a port - port could be a sound muffler also.
Consider, having different wheels (non-swivel) on the back so the vac handles better and does not take off sideways for the first 6" to a foot.
Consider making the cord opposite the hose on the front rather than the same and yet have the switch on the front.
Ensure nails can not pop the bag.
I bought the Dustless Technologies for some renovations that I am doing that requires me to deal with lead paint dust. The Hepa filter captures dust particles down to a minimum filtration efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 micron. It was worth it for me to spend the money to have an epa certified vacuum. In the last couple of years it has become law that you have to disclose anything that you know about lead in your house, to prospective buyers or renters. I am using this product and others as well in my documentation of our lead removal and encapsulation project. It is worth it to buy this vacuum to help remove lead dust from your home and to reassure new buyers and renters that you took care of the problem in the most efficient way.

The vacuum works great! With the Dustless pre filter bag I couldn't even see any dust in the container after filling up half the bag. When dealing with wet or sticky paint the inside of the hose will tend to get coated with the gunk. The hose is super maneuverable and flexible but does need to be cleaned well when dealing with sticky paint chips or dust.
