I was looking for a laptop in the highly competitive mid-range value segment, and after reading a number of reviews and considering several models, ended up choosing this. So far, I've not been disappointed.

FIRST TIME USE
The laptop came well packaged, and was straightforward to get started with: just unwrap, put in the battery (which is already partly charged to enable you to use it right from the start) and off you go. Comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, which asks for some basic information to complete the setup when you first start the laptop; this doesn't take more than 15 minutes or so.

As with all laptops, it comes with a few bits of bloatware installed as standard, but this one seemed decidedly less heavy on that than others I've had in the past, so not too much junk (e.g. Norton anti-virus) to uninstall.

INPUT
The keyboard is surprisingly pleasant to use; I had my reservations when seeing that it was the soft key type, but it's actually very responsive and easy to type on. The keys are well spaced, and you get a full numeric keyboard included. Only minor gripe is that function keys at the top are half-sized for no good reason (there's plenty of space), but they're not used very often so it's no real problem. The trackpad is also fine; it has two proper buttons that are easy to use, and a number of special gestures (such as two-finger scrolling) that can be configured or switched off entirely depending on your preference.Lenovo G580, Acer Aspire V5-571, Lenovo G580, Acer Aspire V5-571G, Lenovo G580, Sony SVE1711F1EW.CEK, Acer Aspire Timeline, Samsung Series 3, Samsung NP355V5C, Samsung Series 5, Acer TravelMate 5744 , Lenovo G780, Asus K53U, HP g6-2011sa, Samsung 700Z, Satellite C850-13C , Lenovo Ideapad Z580, Sony SVE1511A1EB.CEK, Samsung Series 5, Asus UX31E, New Apple Macbook Pro , HP 17.3-inch, Lenovo Ideapad Y580, Apple 15-inch , Asus N55SL, Lenovo Essential G570 , Asus K55A, Lenovo G580, Asus X54C, Asus X54C-SX132V, Apple Macbook White, Compaq Presario CQ57-475SA, Lenovo Ideapad S206 , Satellite C855-1H8, TOSHIBA PSKC9E, Samsung 355V5C, HP G7-2050sa, Fujitsu Lifebook AH531, Lenovo Ideapad Z580, Acer Aspire V5-531, DELL M501R , Lenovo Ideapad Z580 , Samsung NP355V5C, Satellite C855-190, Lenovo G580, HP g6-2022sa, Satellite C855-18U, Apple MacBook Pro, Samsung Series 7, HP g6-1365ea, Satellite Pro C850-10V, HP Pavilion g7-1357ea,

PERFORMANCE
The Core i5 processor is of the latest Ivybridge generation and runs at a good speed, so the machine is very responsive in tasks. This laptop also comes with dual graphics: The Intel HD4000 built-in graphics is used for routine desktop applications that don't require much graphical muscle in order to save the battery, while the NVidia GT650M 2GB dedicated graphics is used to provide serious graphics power for intensive applications and games. This is an excellent mobile chip, and WAY better than the GT640 or even GT630 that you see in some other machines in this price range. The only negative aspect of performance is the hard disk. This is large (1TB), so you won't run out room anytime soon, but like many laptop hard drives runs at 5400rpm in order to save battery. If you're using applications that require a lot of hard disk access, you will notice this, but otherwise it's not a major problem. The hard disk is of course removable and could be upgraded quite easily should you prefer a 7200rpm or even an SSD drive.

DISPLAY
This was one of the most pleasant surprises for me. I was expecting the usual budget laptop display, which are okay and usable, but not particularly attractive to look at. Instead I found a high quality panel on there; apparently Samsung upgraded the panels in all of their mid-range upwards laptops earlier this year to a higher spec model, and it shows. The display quality is actually better than my old LCD desktop monitor! It runs at 1366 x 768 pixels maximum resolution, which I think is fine for a display of this size (15.6" widescreen), but some people might have wished for the option of a higher resolution.

SOUND
Sound is also fine; the speakers are a cut above the usual laptop fare, though no laptop built-in speakers are ever going to produce an attractive sound, and this is no exception. Has a headphone socket if you want to listen to music in a more serious way.

OVERALL
Overall, this is a quality laptop a very good price. Fundamentally, unlike most of its competitors, it doesn't really do anything wrong. All of the different aspects that you might be concerned about (performance, display quality, input responsiveness etc.) are all at least fine, and in some cases excellent. This is a case of a machine that actually lives up to its specification. Samsung actually had a £100 cashback offer when I got mine, making it an absolute steal at £530; at £630 I still it's good value, and hard to beat at that price range. As such, it gets 5 stars from me.
Ok, so this laptop came today and I had high hopes for it reading the spec and for once something actually lived up to expectations, maybe even exceeded them.

-Great keyboard, chiclet style meaning keys don't fall out easily and its of course comfortable to use
-Powerful graphics card, I have been able to run Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 on max settings with little to no lag
-Cool processor, so far very little heat has been emitted from it, even when gaming and everything runs smoothly.
-Large hard drive, ok the RPM is only 5400 but for the size of it what do you really expect? This laptop is under 1k, well under.
-Matte screen means no annoying reflections obscuring your view.

I really am having trouble finding a flaw with this system, in my opinion it's the best one available in UK for its price.

And let me just reiterate that the graphics card is a Nvidia gt650, you won't often find that in a laptop under £800!
This is an amazing laptop and definitely worth considering if it is within your price range.

The speakers in this laptop are incredibly clear and loud, one of the nicest features.

The processor is good and the battery does last about 4 hours on normal use. Gaming hardcore, the battery'll get you an hour maybe.

The keyboard and track pad are definitely some of the best I have ever used on a Laptop and feel really nice and easy to use.

The graphics card is nice. Nvidia 650m with 2GB DDR3 memory. Will cover most non-hardcore gamers needs and wants. Almost works swell for image editing. The specs overall are good and you can game on this machine pretty easily, although don't expect everything on a brand new game with stunning visuals to be on ULTRA settings. However HIGH settings are a possibility.Lenovo G770, Acer Aspire 5742Z , Lenovo Ideapad S206, Samsung RV511, Acer NX.RZNEK.001, Satellite L730-10U, Asus N55SL, Acer Aspire V5-571G, Compaq CQ57-420SA,
