A perfect gift for new homemakers, the food processor has become an integral part of modern cooking, speeding up a multitude of processes, including kneading dough; slicing; chopping; shredding cheese, vegetables, and meat; mincing garlic and parsley; mixing batters; and emulsifying mayonnaise. Cuisinart's Custom food processor comes with a 14-cup work bowl; five basic attachments for slicing, shredding, chopping, mixing, and kneading; and also features two feed-tube options, one big enough to handle a whole potato. This processor comes with a compact cover for use when the feed tube isn't needed and a pulse control that allows the desired degree of fineness when chopping and puréeing. Remove the detachable stem for compact storage of discs. All the parts are dishwasher-safe and the motor base wipes clean. In addition, a custom-contoured spatula, a recipe booklet, and a 30-minute video designed to familiarize the new owner with the care and use of the food processor are included.Staub 5-Quart , Global G-48338, Nespresso CitiZ , Nespresso Citiz C120, Hamilton Beach Electrics , Le Creuset Enameled , Calphalon Tri-Ply, Home Styles 5216-95 , KitchenAid KFPW760WH, Winsome s Parkland , Winsome Groveland Square , Chef s Choice M850, Frigidaire MWV150KB , Berkey Light Water, Zojirushi NS-YAC18, Danby DWC113BLSDB, BUNN 13300.0001 , 144 Shot Glass Display, Anolon Ultra Clad, Bosch Universal Plus, Bosch Compact Mixer, Noritake Crestwood Gold, Haier HNSE025BB, VacMaster VP210C, Danby DCR122BSLDD, 5pc Cappuccino Finish , Le Creuset Enameled, Bunn A10 , Global G-2338 , Steam Pure Stainlsee Steel , Sharp R-1405 , Haier HNSE045VS , JEM25DMBB 2DSpacemaker , Great Northern Popcorn, Cuisinart SS-700BK , Tap Master TMAFC, 8 Gal Beer Brewing , Nostalgia Electrics CCP-510, KRUPS XP2280, B150 Brewer, Vitaquick Quattro-Set , LexMod Urban Glass, Calphalon Hard-Anodized, 5 Pc Derick Counter , VacMaster Portable Chamber, Cuisinart 44-13 , W sthof Gourmet 14-Piece, Shiroko-Kasumi, Global GF-33 , KitchenAid 4.5 Qt, SousVide Supreme
We purchased an inexpensive Black and Decker food processor and immediately broke the container. The container dropped from counter height and shattered (plastic). It seemed a little wimpy so we called B&D to ask if they could help us out and they said no, that it would cost us more than we paid in the first place. Anyway, we decided to spend the money and get a better quality machine. We are so happy!!

First, the entire machine seems a lot sturdier. The motor runs almost silent. It works very well. We have already used it 15 or so times since we bought it a few weeks ago. It lives on the counter and looks amazing! That makes it easier to use as we do not have to haul it out every time we want to use it.

We are very happy with this purchase and will likely never use B&D or any other cheaper products again as in the long run we are going to get better value for our money using Cuisinart.
I own a VitaMix and some really great knives so I have resisted and resisted and resisted buying this pricey kitchen appliance. Well, of course I kept encountering some recipes that neither were well suited for but I could have "managed" anyway and decided I would TRY this and if it didn't "earn its keep" I would return. Well... all I can say is "WHY did I wait so long!!!???" smh It has saved me more time and energy than I could have imagined and I am MORE than happy I finally have found another "right hand" in my kitchen.

IMPORTANT: I was hesitant to get the model w/the 14-Cup bowl but thought "Hmmm, better to have more capacity and not NEED than not enough" so I went ahead w/ 14-Cup purchase. Folks, it was absolutely the RIGHT choice. I would not want a smaller bowl & I usually only cook for 2! :-)

This is not a splurge. It is almost as necessary & useful in my kitchen as my fridge, stove n oven! ;-) Ok. You get the point. I LOVE my purchase and only regret not having purchased it sooner. If your concerns are the same as mine were, don't make the same mistake.

Having both called and written Cuisinart about this problem, I am left with no choice but to conclude that the 14 Cup Cuisinart Food Processor CANNOT be properly cleaned. The problem is that the safety mechanisms on both the lid and the bowl are closed units that when submerged in dish water accumulates food particles that build up over time. And regardless of whether you submerge, or carefully rinse out under flowing water the top and the bowl unit, food particles accumulate in the sealed safety mechanism, which is UNCLEANABLE. Unsatisfied with my inability to clean the unit, and being well versed in food safety, I first wrote Cuisinart, (with above photos included) and upon receiving no reply, I phoned customer service. Customer service told me the following:

1. Noone has EVER complained about the inability to clean the safety mechanism.
2. The safety mechanism is easily cleanable with pipe cleaners, and cloth covered chopsticks (What?)
3. There is no design failure, due to the inability to access the safety mechanism and complete a correct clean.

Now, I know there are times when I am mistaken, but this is NOT one of them. Here's why:

1. The food particle buildup happens naturally, and certainly it happens to others, having ZERO complaints in not possible, considering the devices design.
2. The safety mechanism is NOT easily cleanable, and the use of pipe cleaners or chopsticks is not a viable way to clean them, since it's actually impossible to clean the units with either.
3. There is clearly a DESIGN FAILURE regarding the cleanability of the safety mechanism.

So, I leave it to you to purchase this device at your own risk.

I got this food processor about a year ago to replace my crappy old Oster that had melted in the dishwasher. Oh man, this thing is SO MUCH BETTER. I love how big it is and how efficient the blade is. It's very close to the bottom of the bowl, so it chops things more evenly, even in small quantities. The shredding and slicing discs are very sharp and easy to use, and unlike my old Oster, they can shred/slice the entire vegetable or block of cheese without leaving annoying remnants.

When I first got it, the bowl and lid were kind of hard to snap into place. I was always nervous that I would break them. I've gotten used to it and recognized that that's how they're supposed to be.

I chose this particular food processor because of the big size and the two switches. Most food processors these days have those buttons that sit flush to the surfact, and those seem more likely to break. This thing is an absolute tank. I use it often for pizza dough, pasta dough, and pie crust, which is why I wanted a big capacity. If you don't cook those kinds of things very often, you'll probably want a smaller version.

My mother has had this food processor's predecessor for more than twenty years and it's still going strong - just needed a new bowl a ew years ago. Given that this model is made in China, I am sure it won't last twenty years. Still, unless you want to spend twice as much on a Magimix, this is what you're going to get these days. I'm fine with that. For now I love it. It's everything I wanted. It just works well.
